Building confidence and setting young girls down the path of a healthy lifestyle is PRICELESS! However, there are real costs associated with operating a non-profit organization and delivering the Girls on the Run program.

The actual out-of-pocket cost for Girls on the Run as an organization is approximately $120 per girl for the twice per week, 10-week program. This $120 covers the direct costs of one child’s participation. Our council serves a large territory with a diverse population and we want to price our program so it is affordable to all families. Therefore we offer school-based fees on a sliding scale (ranging from $25 to $120) so the program is more affordable to more girls. Please see below for further information regarding our fee structure. Need based scholorships are available for girls who do not qualify for lunch benefits. We will never turn a girl away, please contact us if you have additional questions.

If your family qualifies for Free/Reduced lunches your registration fee is $25.00.

Does the program fee I pay subsidize other girls program fees?

No, the program fee each individual pays is used to cover the costs of the program for that individual girl. Program fees are subsidized through the generosity of individuals, corporations, foundations and grants. Many families choose to make a donation to the scholarship fund in addition to paying for their child’s program fee. GOTR Heart of Kansas appreciates the generosity of parents and other individuals who help make our scholarship program possible by donating during program registration, online or by participating in fundraisers.

Can a school, school district, PTA/PTO, etc subsidize the program fee?

No, in an effort to maintain the value of the program, GOTR Heart of Kansas does not allow outside entities to subsidize the program fee at a site. If the site, school district or other organization would like to contribute to the scholarship fund, the donations would be welcomed with much appreciation. However, the donations would not change the program fee at a given site.

What options do I have to pay the program fee?

Payment by credit card is the preferred option (all major credit cards are accepted). We do not accept personal checks.  Money orders made out to Girls on the Run Heart of Kansas are also accepted. GOTR Heart of Kansas also encourages families to call the office to set up a personal plan to pay the fee in installments in order to make the program fee more manageable for the family.

Can I pay the program registration fee in installments?

Yes. If parents would like to pay the program fee in installments, they will be able to make partial payments via credit card or check. GOTR Heart  offers recommended payment dates, but parents can contact our office to set up a customized payment plan.

Do coaches have to pay for their daughters to participate in the program?

Yes. Coaches pay $40 for their daughters to participate. Additionally, coaches will have the opportunity to “lock-in” their daughters during an early registration period.

Can program fees be refunded?

No, there are no refunds. If a site is canceled due to insufficient registration or other circumstances deemed appropriate by the program director, the full registration fee will be refunded. Please do not register your daughter if you believe there will a scheduling conflict.

When are program fees due?

Families have the option to pay the fee at the time of registration with a credit card or set up an alternative payment schedule with the GOTR  office. In case of a lottery, refunds will be issued. The registration confirmation email will provide additional details. If a family opts to pay by cash/money order , they do not need to send a payment until their daughter is confirmed to the team.

After registration closes, all registered participants will receive follow-up emails notifying them of their status, as follows:

- Girls at sites with teams that have not been over-subscribed will receive a confirmation email confirming their participation in the program. At this time, the family can mail in a money  order if they chose that payment option.

- Girls at sites with teams are oversubscribed (18+ girls per team) will be automatically entered into a random lottery. Once the lottery is completed, parents will be notified whether or not their daughter has been added to the team.

GOTR Heart of Kansas  will follow up with families who have not paid their daughter’s registration fee during the season. Failure to pay the participant’s fee will affect her eligibility to participate in the future. If a participant has an outstanding balance from a previous season, she will not be able to participate again until the family contacts GOTR Heart of Kansas  to set up a payment plan or discuss alternative options.

Is GOTR Heart of Kansas a non-profit organization and what is the organizations relationship with GOTR International?

Yes, GOTR Heart of Kansas is a non-profit organization. GOTR Heart of Kansas is a council of Girls on Run International (GOTRI), but operates as an independent 501©3. GOTR Heart of Kansas does not receive financial support from GOTRI. GOTR Heart of Kansas pays dues to GOTRI in order to deliver the program to the girls in South Central Kansas.

Will I have to pay anything else throughout the course of the GOTR season?

GOTR Heart of Kansas required  each girl to have a running buddy at the 5k event. The running buddy’s race registration fee is not included in the program registration fee. Whether it’s a parent, relative, neighbor or friend who runs with the participant at the race, they are expected to register for the 5k, which costs $15. Girls on the Run and Heart and Sole participants’ race registration is included in the program fee.

Is there anything I can do to help GOTR Heart of Kansas rasie money?

Yes! There are a number of ways individuals can help GOTR Heart of Knasas fundraising efforts.

*Runners, walkers, cyclists and tri-athletes can check out the SoleMates charity running program.
*Individuals affiliated with a corporation that may be interested in sponsoring a Girls on the Run or Heart and Sole team, matching donations from employees or giving to the organization based on employee volunteer hours can contact our office for more information.

My girl isn't a big runner; is this program for her? OR My girl is already a skilled runner. Is this program for her?
Yes! We are much more than a running program, and every girl can benefit from the experience of building confidence through accomplishment while participating in our rich, curriculum-based, age-appropriate, interactive lessons. Expect lots of games, talking, laughing and processing in addition to running at each practice.

What does the program fee include?
Your program registration fee includes all lesson materials, including GOTR curriculum, activity sheets, lap counters and more, a GOTR t-shirt, a bib entry into the season-ending 5k, a finisher's medal, a GOTR water bottle, and a healthy snack at every practice.

We can't afford the program registration fee but our daughter would love to participate. How does the scholarship program work?
Don't let cost stop you from participating! We'd love to have your daughter involved and we are committed to making Girls on the Run accessible to all girls. Thanks to generous donors and community supporters, program scholarships are available to any girl who needs it, and we can also provide running shoes and clothing to girls in need. The online registration form will walk you through a few questions to find the fee that is right for your family based on a sliding scale.

When does the 10-week season begin?
Practices will begin the week of September 18. The culminating event will be the 5k on Saturday, December 2 at 2:00 for girls participating in Reno County and Sunday, December 3rd for all other participants . More information will be shared by the GOTR staff and by your girl's coaches once the season begins.

Do girls need to attend both days each week in order to register?
Yes! Since most of our teams fill up quickly, if your girl will be unable to attend all the sessions, please save room for a girl who can, and consider joining us in a future season when she can enjoy the entire program.

Does my girl need a Running Buddy?
Each girl should have an adult (age 18+) Running Buddy who will register (and pay to participate) for the Fall 2017 5k. Learn more about running buddies, here.

Is there a way for me to sponsor another girl's participation this season?
Yes! As a mission-driven 501(c)3, Girls on the Run relies on generous donors in order to provide more than $90,000 in program scholarships for girls in need.
